Honey Helps Too..

Did you know that honey helps the body in numerous different ways?

Honey can help soothe a hangover:

Honey is gentle on the stomach and contains a mix of natural sugars such fructose which is known to speed up the oxidation of alcohol by the liver, acting as a 'sobering' agent, according to Audry Halpern ( a headache specialist an neurologist in NYC)

Honey can help heal minor injuries:

Honey has antibacterial properties and is proved to speed up healing. To help treat monor scrapes, cuts, or burns, according to Joseph Kellerstein (a doctor of naturopathic medicine in Toronto). Its antiseptic properties inhibits the growth of certain bacteria and helps keep external wounds clean and free from infection.

Honey Soothes The Throat:

If you have a sore throat or annoying cough try 2 teaspoon of honey. Honey not only soothes throats but can also kill certain bacteria that causes the infection. Professional singers commonly use honey to soothe their throats before performances. Honey coats the throat and helps thin the mucus, according to Ian M. Paul (MD, of Pennsylvania State University in Hershey)

Want Smooth Skin?:

  1. very intersting blog. i knew honey was used by singers to help soothe the throat before performances, but i had no idea that it could be used as a type of sobering aide. also the fact that honey can be used to help keep bacteria from forming on scrapes and wounds seems kind of odd, but if it works and has been proven then maybe it's true. overall i thought it was very interesing and i didn't know that honey had so many useful properties.

  2. I did not realize that honey did so much. When I was younger my mom used to make me drink honey and tea when i was sick. I thought it was just a home remedy but I guess it is a proven thing. It is also amazing that you can use it for cuts and burns, I would have never guessed. This was very interesting and I learned about honey. I might even use this info in the future when i have a cut or throat.
